It's hard to believe that half of the first month of 2016 is already over! Only 11.5 months to go and we'll be another year older and reflecting on 2016 as history as we look to 2017. I was encouraged by an e-mail from a friend Nic and I wanted to post it here.
It is from "Who We Are" that we live and move and have our being (see Acts 17:28) so this is a reminder (courtesy of my friend Nic). I encourage you to slow down and soak in these verses, don't let them roll like water off a ducks back, but let them penetrate and be your anchor as you succeed in 2016!!!
So who are we?
God tells us:
We are TRULY RIGHTEOUS and PERFECTED
Gal 4:6-7 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son. And since you are a son, you are also an heir.
1 Thes 5:5 For you are all sons of light, sons of the day.
2 Cor. 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come the old has gone, the new is here!
Heb 10:14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
We have FRIENDSHIP with God and are not merely servants
John 15:15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing: but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
WE have POWER AND AUTHORITY here, now, in this life
Matthew 28:18 All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, go therefore!
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.
Matthew 16:19 …Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
1 John 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.
Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
2 Cor 2:14 Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph
Isa 54:17 No weapon formed against you will stand
Prov 28:1 The Righteous are as bold as a lion.
Ps 112:6 The Righteous will never be shaken.
Rom 5:17 Those who receive the free gift of righteousness will reign in life.
We are FREE from the law and free from sin
Rom 8:2 For the law of the spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Rom 6:18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness
Rom 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin..
We are elevated to the status of heir
Rom 8:17 If children, then heirs – heirs of God and join heirs with Christ
We are laborers, together WITH God
1 Cor 3:9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
We have been established, anointed, and have been sealed by God
2 Cor 1:21-22 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
We are chosen by God, we are Holy, We are a royal priesthood, we are God’s special possession, we are dearly loved
Col 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
1 Pet 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praise of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
